OverviewAt ServerEngines, we create silicon building blocks that enhance the functionality, performance, and security of contemporary servers of all types - including tower, rack, or blade configurations. We base our products on accepted industry standards like 10 gigabit Ethernet, along with an alphabet soup that includes TCP, IP, IPSec, iSCSI, IPMI, PCI-e, SSL, SSH, LLDP, XAUI, MII, RGMII, RTP and even sRTP. In some areas our designs are so far ahead of the industry that standards have yet to emerge; in these cases we provide silicon that is ahead of the standard and then we work with standards groups and other technology leaders to create needed standards. ServerEngines has created a portfolio of three product families. The first addresses the performance and affordability of 10GbE networks used in storage (iSCSI), networking (TCP) and clustering (MPI and RDMA) environments, and includes our BladeEngine and BladeXchange devices. The second family enables servers at all price points to incorporate remote "lights out" management features that previously have been offered only on premium products; we address these requirements with our Pilot family of system management devices. The third family, based on our NetClient offering, incorporates in a single chip everything a system designer needs to turn ordinary desktop LCD monitors into multimedia-capable thin client systems. Unlike previous thin client devices that could handle only text and 2D graphics applications, NetClient-based systems can stream high-definition videos at full frame rates, and serve as VoIP clients that interoperate with typical VoIP switches from Cisco and Nortel, as well as open source switching solutions like Asterisk. By offloading the decode of multi-media to NetClient, ServerEngines NetClient enhances user experience, minimizes host server-CPU utilization, and dramatically increases server scalability. | |||||||
